We often fall behind, running this race. So we relent, stop giving it our all, we lose the zeal. We start dragging our feet along the track, tripping over little stones. We begin to steal fleeting glances over our shoulders, convinced that everyone else is catching up to us. We find the baton in our hand a weight too burdensome. Lap after lap after lap.
In a typical relay race, you run a lap followed by your partner and the cycle repeats. God is already running the distance with us. Then why is it still so hard? Because sometimes what we need to do is reach out to Jesus and pass Him the baton. He will help us win the race.
He will be with us at the finish line.
