She looks up at the ceiling. Its age shows, a cobweb hanging precariously at a corner. She shakes her head in disapproval and lets her focus revert back to the Macbook screen.
Click click click.
It's taking too long to load, she thought to herself and shuts down the laptop. The phone starts ringing. The comical tune sounds almost an oddity to hear after so long. She leaves it to ring just a few seconds more. Moments like these don't come often these days.
"Hello." She says, unsure.
Someone on the other line took the liberty to speak words that she couldn't find. An estranged family member? An old friend? An ex-boyfriend? A telemarketer selling household products? Whoever it is, they are saying too much.
"Yes. Well, life is different now." She ends the call without much of a goodbye, leaving the phone on the table.
"My life... is different now." She whispers to herself in repetition.
