This and that.

Sacrifice is this thing that everyone think they do. You meet up with a friend for coffee and you sacrifice your time. You study for an exam and you sacrifice the fun you could be having instead. You choose to leave behind everything to take care of a sick person and you sacrifice your youth. Or at least that's what we attach to sacrifice. The most trivial thing we give up, we like to call sacrifice. Because that makes us sound like better people. 

But we don't know sacrifice. We don't know what it would mean to lay down our lives for our enemies. Sacrifice is more than something you give up in exchange for a certain gain in return. A friend. Better grades. Approval of the people around you. Sacrifice is not a transaction.

You sacrifice when you give away a piece of you knowing you won't get anything to fill that void back up.
